Caught them right before closing for takeout on Easter Sunday. This was my first time eating here despite riding past the restaurant basically all my life. Blown away by the food, easily some of the best soulfood in Newark. The oxtails and turkey wings were tender and flavorful. The mac and cheese and yams were perfect. The fried chicken was crispy and well seasoned, and the cabbage was decent as well. I’ll absolutely be back to try other dishes as well as their breakfast. Don’t be discouraged by the location or minimal online presence. This is a no-frills spot beats out a lot of the more overhyped/popular soul food restaurants, easily.

My wife came across this place after watching Matt DV do a review on YouTube. We've ordered from here twice already and have not been disappointed either time. It truly reminds us of our grandparents' cooking. Every bite was delicious and I did not have to add any type of seasoning to my plate. The portion size was huge for the platters which I really appreciated. We'll have to try some breakfast the next go around.

This place is absolutely incredible! The portions are huge, the pasta is made with real cheese, the beef is unbelievably delicious, the stewed cabbage is amazing, and they even serve some kind of bread that’s just delightful. It was my first time here, and unfortunately, I was just passing through for work. But they helped me choose what to order since I wasn’t sure, and everything was a solid 100 out of 100. I absolutely recommend this place!

We were looking for a soul food restaurant that have grits found a place in Newark NJ. When you walk through the door you smell home cooking. I ordered grits with scrambled eggs and cheese and corn beef hash. It was excellent just the way I like . My other half ordered salmon cakes omg cooked perfectly nice and seasoned and crispy. Yes we’re coming back for dinner. The chef came out to make sure how we wanted our food cooked which was very nice. Thanks chef.

The food was delicious with a variety wide enough to suite even the pickiest eater. The man at the counter was neat, clean and professional I really enjoyed my meal and will be returning.. I will say however I don't care for the location..I will say , I hope they expand to an Ivy Hill location or at least near 18th Avenue.. (just a lil thought)

We were visiting from Toronto, Google had high ratings for this place, and we were craving soul food. Let me tell you how we instantly felt like family, warm welcomes, all smiles so much comfort. I felt like I knew them for years, it was a great way to end our weekend before our 7 hour drive back home. The food was BANGINGGGG omgggggg!! Seriously it was so good I got gravy on my forehead. I killed it! The cornbread was soooo moist oh man I'm hungry thinking about it again lol if you're in New Jersey definitely visit!

This is fantastic soul food! The place is very low-key, but super high-class food. The Lima beans are perfectly cooked, along with everything else. Wow, this is so good! The only thing this meal is missing is a nap!
